Helical Piles for Slab Support – Chelsea, MA
Problem:
The slab for an existing warehouse building was settling very badly. The soil investigation showed the slab to be supported by a layer of loose fill soils with organic peat below. The new construction needed to be pile supported to prevent settling of the new concrete slab.

Solution:
Northeast Helical LLC successfully installed over two hundred helical piles within the existing warehouse. The helical piers anchored into the glacial outwash and the piles advanced down from 45 to about 65 feet deep. A load test was successfully performed on one of the piles and showed a working capacity of 50 kips was achieved in the outwash sands.
