New Construction – Newton, Massachusetts
Problem:
An older house was to be demolished and replaced with new construction. The building had experienced significant settlement. Upon the geotechnical investigation, the site contained up to 20 feet of poor soils. Deep foundation was required for the new structure.
Engineering Design:
UTS of Massachusetts performed the geotechnical work, and thus recommended helical piles for the project. The site was within a densely populated neighborhood, and vibrations and noise were factors in the deep foundation system.
Project Details:
Northeast Helical installed thirty four piles to support the new structure. The piles advanced between 28 and 40 feet below grade, and were anchored into the glacial outwash soils. The project was successfully completed in five days |
