Foundation Repair
How Does Underpinning Work?

Northeast Helical incorporates both resistance piles and helical piles for repairing settling foundations.  The process is as shown below.

Foundation Underpinning

Stabilizing a sinking foundation can be achieved through the installation of underpinning piles.  Helical piles are advanced, or screwed, through the unsuitable soils and are anchored into the better soils below.  Resistance piles are jacked down using the building as a counterweight.

The process begins with exposing the footing by excavating an access trench, and this can be performed either inside or outside the structure. The pile element is installed adjacent to the foundation, through the poor soils and into the suitable soils.

The underpinning pile attaches to the concrete foundation with a underpinning bracket, which can then jack the structure at the homeowners request.
