Engineered Foundation Technologies utilizes both carbon fiber and helical technology to repair retaining walls. These cutting edge technologies can provide high quality and permanent solutions, meeting all of our clients needs.
Causes of Wall Problems: Poorly constructed retaining or basement walls are susceptible to shifting from excessive pressures. In most cases, water improperly drains away from behind a wall, adding sudden and significant forces during periods of heavy rain. Within cold climates, this water seasonally freezes and thaws, greatly affecting the retaining structure.
Walls can also bow from poor construction methods. Today's building codes have specific requirements for wall construction, such as the American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Building Code. Prior to these design standards (sometimes even today), many walls were constructed without the necessary reinforcement, manifesting in lateral movement.
Older walls can deteriorate over time. Exposed to the elements, the wall will eventually lose strength and become susceptible to shifting from the existing soil pressures.
Solutions for Wall Problems:
- Carbon Fiber Reinforcement
- Helical Tiebacks
